Adult Volunteers
We need volunteers for our 2026 Outdoor Inclusive Adventures 10 Year Anniversary Event! Columbus and Franklin County Metro Parks and the YMCA of Central Ohio are hosting a day of fun and inclusive activities for youth with diverse abilities and/or special needs. Their family, friends, and the community are invited to join us at Darby Bend Lakes to participate in inclusive outdoor fun and networking. You will receive a volunteer shirt and will be directed to your station. Please comment with your preferred shirt size or send it via email to ckranz@ymcacolumbus.org. Volunteers will be directed to check in at the Registration Table (Welcome Area on the map) when they arrive at the event! Volunteers will receive an email with a map and additional information ahead of time. The welcome area is located by the restrooms/shelter at Lake/Area #3. Please wear comfortable clothes and shoes. You will receive a volunteer shirt and will be directed to your station. Please comment with your preferred shirt size or send it via email to ckranz@ymcacolumbus.org. metroparks.net ymcacolumbus.org/ecrn Special visits by: Magical Adventures Parties, Kona Ice, Ohio Wildlife Center, the local fire department, and more! *Please note, our meetup point is NOT in the main parking area of the park. Google Maps or your GPS may take you just down the road from the entrance to our meetup. Look for balloons at Darby Bend Lakes entrance on Amity Road.

Van Buren Shelter
Volunteer at Van Buren Center and help serve dinner to the women and families staying at our shelter. This volunteer opportunity is a great way to learn about the shelter and provide a vital service for our guests by supporting our kitchen with meal service and clean up. IMPORTANT REMINDERS TO READ BEFORE SIGNING UP -Avoid signing up for volunteer shifts less than 48 hours in advance. If you register on the same day or the day before, you may not be able to volunteer. -We ask that volunteers arrive 10-15 minutes before the shift start time to ensure enough time to find parking, check in at the front desk, and be ready to serve at 5:00 p.m., when dinner service starts. Your support ensures our guests receive warm, nourishing meals in a welcoming environment. Check out the available volunteer slots below and sign up to make a difference! You may be unable to volunteer if you register on the same day or the day before. -Volunteers must be at least 17 years old to sign up, and anyone under 14 must be accompanied by an adult.
